Chronology of cameras Pipon
Despite its name, The Self Worker is indeed French and was carefully constructed by the brothers Jules and Alexandre Pipon in Paris starting from 1898. The Self-Worker was available in two formats: 6.5 x 9 and 9 x 12 (or, in 1898 only, 83 x 108). It was also produced as a stereo model, and later as a stereo-panoramic model in 1904.
It's a parallelepiped-shaped twin-lens camera made of wood covered in leather, featuring a removable magazine for 12 plates. The camera is equipped with a pneumatic shutter with bulb mode and various adjustable speeds controlled by two buttons. It has two tripod sockets with Congress threads.
Its distinctive feature lies in its focusing mechanism, which involves a radial lever located on the right side. When rotated slightly more than a quarter turn, it engages a rack and pinion system for focusing.

L'armement se fait par une petite tirette à main droite. Un petit loquet sélectionne la pose ou l'instantané. Les vitesses ne sont pas étalonnées, mais sont variables grâce à deux molettes : une en façade graduée de 1 à 6, l'autre sur le côté graduée de 1 à 4. L'obturateur à guillotine étant très fatigué, il ne m'est pas possible de préciser plus leurs fonctions respectives...
L'exemplaire présenté porte une plaquette "Photo-Sport - Georges de Corbin - 6, square de l'Opéra et 22, Rue Caumartin. Paris" On ne le trouve pas pour autant dans les catalogues de la marque, mais figure dans celui du Bon Marché.
Il porte le N° 2766 et est équipé d'un "Anastigmat - Zeiss1:8 F. 100 m/m Bté SGDG E. Krauss - Paris N° 26777". Il dispose de deux écrous de pied au pas du Congrés.
